The European Space Agency (ESA) is Europe’s gateway to space. Its mission is to shape the development of Europe’s space capability and ensure that investment in space continues to deliver benefits to the citizens of Europe and the world.

ESA’s Technology Transfer Programme Office (TTPO) has successfully transferred over 200 space technologies to non-space sectors for applications as diverse as cooling suits for a Formula 1 racing team, ground penetrating radar to detect cracks in mine tunnels and several health-care innovations. 

The activities of TTPO have also led to the creation of a number of new start-up companies in Europe, many of which have been promoted through ESA’s Business Incubator.  

The Centre National d’EtudesSpatiales (CNES) is the government agency responsible for shaping and implementing France’s space policy in Europe. Its task is to invent the space systems of the future, bring space technologies to maturity and guarantee France’s independent access to space. 

CNES is a pivotal player in Europe’s space programme, and a major source of initiatives and proposals that aim to maintain France and Europe’s competitive edge.

It conceives and executes space programmes with its partners in the scientific community and industry, and is closely involved in many international cooperation programmes—the key to any far-reaching space policy. 
Aerospace Valley is a non-profit created on July 13, 2005 to grow the competitiveness of the Midi-Pyrénées & Aquitaine regions’ Aeronautics, Space, and Embedded Systems sectors on the national, European and international levels. Aerospace Valley was certified a “Worldwide Cluster” from its inception.

The guiding purpose of Aerospace Valley is to leverage the competitiveness and visibility of its some 683 members, both on the national and international scene, as well as to optimize the attractiveness of the Aquitaine and Midi-Pyrénées regions, by fostering the development of networks and collaborative initiatives. Aerospace Valley fulfills this mission by leveraging the two regions’ assets in terms of research, innovation, and know-how, by supporting the growth of SMEs and by fostering cooperation between SMEs, industry leaders, investors, and research organizations. 

 

ESA BIC Sud France is part of ESA’s Technology Transfer Programme Office. Opened in 2013, it’s the first Business Incubation Center in France. ESA BIC Sud France is managed by Aerospace Valley in strong cooperation with Pégase and the French Space Agency in Toulouse (CNES). The ESA BIC Sud France project is run by support structures for the creation of innovative companies in Aquitaine, Midi-Pyrénées and Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur regions: ESTIA Entreprendre, Bordeaux Technowest, CEEI Théogone, Midi-Pyrénées Incubator and PACA-Est Incubator.


ESA BIC Sud France is a valuable tool to promote and exploit the existing range of space patents with entrepreneurs. It proposes a strong support structure with its eight partners showing sound judgment and experience in business creation and innovative start-ups. ESA BIC Sud France is a common force with all partners supporting all projects.

Since 2008, every edition of the Toulouse Space Show has attracted more than 800 people from thirty countries, confirming the role of Toulouse and Midi-Pyrénées as the global capital and region of the space industry.

This fourth edition of the Toulouse Space show used a new format with roundtable discussions for institutional stakeholders and users who have been showcasing their knowhow in the fields of space infrastructures and applications, on a regional, national or international scale.There will also be demonstrations and a service for scheduling business appointments.

The Toulouse Space Show was exactly the kind of event needed to bring together those responsible for innovative space applications as well as the wider user community of users of the many satellite-based applications now available.

The goal of S2G2M2  (Sustainable Services for GMES and GNSS in Mobile and Mobility) is to support innovative mobile service providers to benefit from the European satellite navigation systems (Galileo and EGNOS) and data derived from the European Earth observation programme Copernicus, which was previously known as GMES. Its pan-European approach ensures that the relevant SME community has access to support mechanisms regardless of their geographic location or size.
